The Choir Master

A musical drama that explores the boundaries between passion for art and the power of authority. The story centres on thirteen-year-old Karolína, who is trying to make a name for herself in a prestigious girls’ choir.

Her talent is undeniable, but on her path to recognition she must face not only a strong rival, but also a difficult relationship with a respected conductor who leads the choir with a firm hand and unwavering discipline. In an environment where music becomes a tool for emotions and tension, Karolína gradually learns to find her own voice and the courage to stand up for herself.

The main roles will be played by Juraj Loj, Kateřina Falbrová, Maya Kintera, Zuzana Šulajová, and others. Directed by Ondřej Provazník, the film offers an intimate yet urgent look at the world of adolescent girls and their mentors. Lukáš Milota was in charge of the camera, and the musical atmosphere was created by award-winning composers Jonatan Pjoni Pastirčák and Aid Kid.

The authenticity of the film is enhanced by the fact that the singing scenes were recorded live, directly during filming, placing the viewer in the middle of a rehearsal room or concert hall. Zbormajster is not just a film about music – it is a powerful statement about growing up, courage, and the fine line between inspiration and power.
