A derby decided not by the referee, but by the heart.

Kúzlo derby provides a football backdrop but, at its core, this is a film about people – their passions, mistakes, desires, and hopes that even in life’s biggest “derby,” there is a chance to win.

A football derby isn’t just about goals, emotions in the stands, and rivalry on the field. The new film Kúzlo derby by directors Petr Kolečko and Vladimír Skórka shows that a big match is also taking place in the personal lives of people who encounter football from different perspectives.

The fates of several characters intertwine in one story – a football referee awaiting the key match of his career, a young football star facing a life-changing decision, and a professor who surprises everyone with her passion for football. The story also features a father and daughter searching for a way back to each other, a popular singer who must choose between his career and his personal life, and a football commentator for whom the derby is more than just a sporting event.

Strong emotions, humour, and dramatic situations intertwine with the football atmosphere that forms the backdrop of this exceptional film. The “derby” thus becomes a symbol—a moment that can change lives, test relationships, and reveal what is truly important in life.
