JOJ Svet offers documentaries for everyone

Ranging from major historical events and iconic personalities to nature, wildlife, arts, culture, and fascinating human stories. In 2027, JOJ Svet will also feature noteworthy Slovak documentary projects. One of them is Wild Return, an ambitious series about endangered species returning to the wilderness. The series was in production for three and a half years and garnered acclaim abroad before its Slovak premiere—broadcast rights were acquired by German broadcasters, and the project is set to reach audiences in Australia as well.

Dve tváre sveta, a travel series with traveler Martin Navrátil, is another Slovak project. It will take viewers to places that offer more than the usual tourist glimpses and show the world through the lens of contrasts, authentic encounters, and unexpected events. India, Brazil, Nepal, Mongolia, and Uganda will serve as the backdrop for travel, discovery, and getting to know local life.

JOJ Svet will also bring documentaries about prominent figures in culture and arts. Stars of the Silver Screen will introduce viewers to the lives of multiple movie stars and industry icons, including Marlene Dietrich, whose career was heavily marked by her German roots and the period of the Second World War.

Salvador Dali: A Tale of Two Cities will bring audiences closer to the art world. The documentary profiles one of the most influential surrealists, not only as the author of iconic works, but also as a provocateur and master of self-promotion who turned surrealism into a global phenomenon.

Pinter’s Progress will explore the work of one of the most significant playwrights of the 20th century, Harold Pinter. The Nobel Prize in Literature winner is known for his use of silence, tension, power dynamics, and meanings hidden behind words and pauses.

For history lovers, JOJ Svet offers documentaries that help you understand events in a broader context. The Russian Revolution revisits the events that led to the fall of a 300-year-old Romanov dynasty and the rise of the Bolsheviks. It seeks to uncover what was behind one of the most significant revolutions of the 20th century.

History often overlaps with legends and mythology. Dracula Unearthed follows the story of Vlad III, whose life and legacy have become intertwined with the legend of one of the most famous vampires.
