Mama a tato sú božskí

In the golden 1960s, beautician Olga Knoblochová enters the world of the Barrandov film studios. It’s there that she meets the charismatic and eccentric chemist Boublík, and a story begins that will reach far beyond the borders of Czechoslovakia. Their efforts to help a girl with a severe skin blemish gradually lead to Dermacol, the legendary cover-up makeup that even caught Hollywood’s attention.

Marika Šoposká stars as Olga Knoblochová, alongside Martin Hofmann as Boublík. Working from Marek Epstein’s screenplay, director Vojtěch Moravec brings the atmosphere of the 1960s to life – the world of film, fashion, cosmetics, and social change. The period setting of Prague and Barrandov is rounded out by a strong Czech-Slovak cast, including Diana Mórová and Zuzana Norisová.

Lady Dermacol is a film inspired by the real-life story of Olga Knoblochová, a woman who managed to make her mark at a time when that was far from a given for women. It’s not just a story about the creation of an iconic cosmetics brand, but also about courage, ingenuity, and the drive to create something extraordinary – even while behind the Iron Curtain.
