The Girl Next Door

Kristína leads a seemingly peaceful life in a small town – she works at the library, takes care of the Ostrov community centre, and has a long-term boyfriend, Filip. However, her world is turned upside down when she discovers that Filip is cheating on her.

The breakup opens the way for Kristína to make a fresh start, but instead of support, she finds only well-meaning but often unsolicited advice from her parents. At this point, the charismatic graphic designer Tomáš enters her life, and Kristína is faced with the decision of whether to stay in her old, complicated relationship or step into the unknown.

The film combines romance and humour with situations that many viewers will recognize from their own lives. “Dievča od vedľa” is a story about finding the courage to change established patterns, about the power of family relationships, but above all about the hope that true love can come when we least expect it.
