He is right who has the power. No matter how he got it…

The thriller about the head of organised crime in the 1990s, Mikulas Černák, played by Milan Ondrík, was made by the successful director Jakub Kroner based on true events. The screenplay was written by Miro Šifra, an award-winning screenwriter in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, who studied all available sources of information and the important sources directly from Mikuláš Černák. “We spent dozens of hours on the phone during the Covid, and I visited him several times in person in Leopoldov,” says Miro Šifra.

“The story of Mikuláš Černák, the former boss of the Slovak underworld, is an immanent part of the Slovak history in the 1990s, when the ability to assert oneself at any cost became synonymous with success. In politics and beyond. And those who climbed their way up to the top without restraint have been an object of admiration in Slovakia for three decades. They have become “role models”. That is why it is necessary to talk about the 1990s, because the deep crisis of today’s society has its roots in those times,” says producent Zuzana Mistríková.
